Bonjour Lecteur!

Je sais je suis en retard mais ne sois pas fâché. J'ai pensé a plein de choses, j'ai fais quelques recherches pour un projet pour mon Fiancé et pour un rêve qui pourrait devenir réalité dans pas trop très longtemps. mais de ça je ne vous parlerais pas maintenant. ce sera une surprise!

J'avais évoqué mon retard dans les publications d'articles, voici un des retards en question: les Crash Test!

C'est quoi un crash test? A la base c'est un accident simulé avec une voiture pour tester sa sécurité, sa résistance, etc.

Moi j'ai décidé que mes crash test seraient des test objectifs a propos d'articles particulier. Le principe est simple: j'achète l'article et je le teste. Après je vous donne mon ressenti, les points forts et points faible et si il y en a les modifications que j'y apporterais ou articles que je conseille de prendre en complément.

Pour ce tout premier test je vous propose un essai d'un kit pour réaliser soi-même son serre-taille chez soi. Oui ça existe la preuve:

Contenu du kit:

- Un patron (taille 34 à 62)

- Les explications pour la réalisation dudit serre-taille

- Les baleines (en plastique ou en acier selon le choix fait)

- Une bande de sergé

- Un busc

- 6 m de lacet

Ce qui ne vous est PAS fourni:

- Les œillets et la pince pour les poser (la pince est facultative dans les emballage d’œillets Prym il y a l'outil pour les poser au marteau.. gaffe aux doigts quand même!)

- Le tissus intérieur et extérieur (il faudra environ 50 cm X 140 cm de chaque)

- Le biais pour la finition

Prix du kit:

26,20 € avec les baleines plastique, 29,20 € avec les baleines en acier

Points positifs:

- Le patron: Le patron est exceptionnel! je fais toujours un essai dans un tissus moche pour m'assurer que c'est bien à ma taille et qu'il ne faut rien changer et là avec ce patron RIEN n'était à changer. Pas de soucis de tailles trop grandes ou trop petites (comme avec certaines marques de patron que je ne citerais pas) et malgré la multitude de taille le patron reste étonnamment clair! même moi qui ne suis pas une championne de recopiage de patron je ne me suis pas perdue!

- Le busc: c'est un busc droit. Il est beaucoup plus facile a poser que son homologue le busc cuillère et est donc plus approprié selon moi pour débuter. Pour ton information un busc cuillère c'est ça:

- Le lacet: C'est bête mais avoir un bon lacet c'est important. Un serre-taille doit résister à une certaine pression vu qu'il... serre la taille pour la rendre plus fine. Si le lacet est trop fin ou fragile il va casser plus ou moins rapidement selon la niveau de serrage et d'usure. Autant en avoir directement un bon!

Points négatifs:

- La bande de sergé: Le sergé est un tissus tissé de façon à ne pas se déformer, hyper résistant et assez épais. placé sur la ligne de taille du corset, serre-taille ou dans la ceinture d'un vêtement il va prévenir toute déformations de la pièce en "encaissant" le coup à la place du tissus qui l'accompagne ou l'entoure selon comment il est posé. Cette petite bande va donc augmenter admirablement la durée de vie de votre corset! Oui ... sauf si elle est trop courte! Ce qui était le cas :-(

- Les baleines: Trop courtes!!! Toutes sauf deux, qui elles étaient trop longues! Pourtant j'ai tout bien suivi comme ils disaient... mais même posées a plat sur le patron il y a comme un problème. J'ai posé la baleine la plus courte posée sur la couture la plus courte (normalement elles vont ensemble) il manquait 4 bons centimètres! C'est énorme!

- Les explications: Alors là deux choses, je ne suis pas d'accord sur la façon dont c'est expliqué ni sur la méthode de montage employée! Les explications sont un peu chaotique, des schémas partout, qui se ressemblent tous! Un chat n'y retrouverait pas ses jeunes! Pour ce qui est de la méthode de montage du serre-taille ils conseillent de monter séparément les deux couches puis de les assembler. C'est une technique en effet mais le "montage sandwich" garanti moins d'erreur, plus de régularité, plus de facilité et aussi une avancée plus rapide et donc plus motivante.

Petits conseils:

- Remplacer les baleines en acier du kit par des baleines en acier spiralées. Elles sont assez bon marché et on peut les couper à la longueur souhaitée. Si je devais racheter ce kit je le prendrais avec les baleines plastique (pour ne pas avoir les baleines aux mauvaises longueurs) et je prendrais 2 m de baleines en acier comme celle-ci:

- Lire les explications du livret. Si on ne les comprends pas ou qu'on veut se simplifier la vie tout en ayant le même rendu, Ne trouvant plus la vidéo à laquelle je pensais je vous ferais un tuto (même si il en existe quelques uns sur la toile dont celui -ci:

Mon ressenti:

Ce kit conviendrait à quelqu'un qui voudrait se lancer dans la grande aventure de la corseterie. Selon moi les prérequis pour attaquer ce continent de la couture sont: savoir piquer droit et savoir couper un patron de façon précise (faut s'appliquer quand même nameho!). Pas de contre indications!

Les points positifs compensent amplement les points négatifs (surtout le patron qui selon moi reste un outil précieux à conserver).

Au final on a affaire à un kit bien fait dans l'ensemble, accessible à tous et à un prix très démocratique (ce qui va faire s'envoler ou non le prix du serre-taille sera le choix du tissus).

I know I'm late but please don't be angry . I thought about a lot of things , I did some research for a project for my Fiancé and a dream that could become reality in the not too long. but I do not talk to you now about it. It will be a surprise!

I mentioned my delay in the publication of articles, here is a delay in question:the Crash Test!

What is a crash test? At the base it is a simulation with a car to test its safety, accident resistance , etc. .

I have decided that my crash test would be objectives test about particular items . The principle is simple: I buy the item and I tested. After I give you my feelings , strengths and weak points, and if there are changes that I would bring or items that I recommend to take in complement .

For this first test I propose a test of a swiss waist kit to make at home. Yes it is the proof:

Kit Contents:
- A pattern (size 34-62 )

- Explanations tomake the swiss waist

- Whales (plastic or steel as selected )

- A strip of twill

- A busc

- 6 m cordon

What you do is NOT provided :

- The eyelets and clip for attaching ( the clip is optional indeed in packaging of Prym eyelets there is a tool to attach them with a hammer... fingers anyway!)

- The interior and exterior fabrics ( it takes about 50 cm X 140 cm ofeach )

- Bias for finishing

Price of the kit:

€ 26.20 with plastic whales, € 29.20 with steel bones

Positives points:

- The pattern : The pattern is perfect! I always do a test in a lousy fabrics to make sure it is in my size and that nothing should change but with this pattern there was NOTHING to change. No worries with sizes too big or too small (as with some brands of pattern I would not cite ) and even with a lot of sizes it is very clear !
- The busc: it is a right busc . It is much easier to sew than a spoon busk and is therefore more appropriate for me to start . For your information a spoon busk is this:

- The cordon : I know it seems to be stupid but to have a good cordon is important. A swiss waist mus resist with the pressure. If the cordon is too thin or too fragile it will break more or less quickly depending on the clamp level and wear. As having a good straight!

Negatives points:

- The tape Twill : Twill is a woven fabric so as not to deform , durable and thick enough hyper . placed on the waist line of the corset, swiww waist, belt or in a garment it will prevent deformation of the workpiece " taking " kick instead of tissues that accompanies or surrounds depending on how it is made. This small band will therefore increase admirably life of your corset ! Yes ... but not if it is too short ! This was the case :-(

- Whales : Too short again! All too short except two of them that were too long ! Yet I followed all good as they say ... but even put flat on the boss there is a problem. On the pattern I placed the shortest whale on the shorter seam ( normally they go together ) there was 4 centimeters missing! This is huge !

- Explanations : So there two things I do not agree on how it is explained and about the mounting method used ! The explanations are a bit chaotic, drawings everywhere! A cat does not regain his youth in it! Regarding the method of mounting the clamp size they recommend to mount the two layers separately and then assemble them . This technique is not very bad but the " sandwich assembly " guaranteed you of a few errors , more regularity , easier and also faster and therefore more motivating Advanced .

Small tips:

- Replace the steel bones from the kit with spiral steel boning . They are quite cheap and can be cut to the desired length. If I had to buy this kit I would take it with plastic whales and I would take 2 m steel bones like this :

- Read Instructions booklet . If you do not understand or you want to simplify your life with the same look, I dont find anymore the video that I was wanted to show you so I will make a tutorial (even if there is some of them on the internet, this is a good exemple:

My feelings :

This kit would suit for someone who wants to embark in the great adventure of corsetry . In my prerequisites to attack this "continent" of sewing are : know how to sew a straight line and know cut right following a pattern. No other indications against !

The positives outweigh the negatives points ( especially the pattern that I will remains a valuable tool to keep ) .

In the end this is a good kit, accessible to all and at a very reasonable price (which will vanish or not the price of the swiss waist is the choice of fabrics ) .

Voici le este dans le tissus moche! Sur le mannequin à mes mesures ça marche niquel! / here is the test in the ugly fabric! On the dummy it works well!

Quand je disais un soucis de baleines... en bas ce sont les baleines aux bonnes dimensions pour la coutures la plus courte et en haut celles fournies... Il y a comme un stress.../When I told the sake of whales ... down whales are the right size for the shortest seams and above those provided ... There has to be a stress ...
