Bonnet d'été second empire - Civil war summer bonnet

Bonjour!

Aujourd'hui c'est dimanche et comme souvent le dimanche on se retrouve ici pour mes dernières avancées!

Ce week-end est le dernier où je peux bosser sur ma tenue second empire, si tout va bien la semaine prochaine à la même heure j'essayerais de me ravoir à grand coup de café.

Comme le titre de l'article le dit, on va parler chapeau! Bonnet plus exactement, enfin ce qu'on appelait bonnet en 1850!

A la base je voulais le faire moi-même mais, pour être franche, je ne le sentais pas trop!

Je n'ai jamais fais de chapeau de ma vie, j'en ai parlé à mon homme, nous nous sommes posé la question de l'utilité de la chose et au souvenir de mon dernier coup de soleil lorsqu'on est allé au soleil et que je ne portais pas de chapeau on a convenu qu'il en fallait un. Sans je peux dire adieu à ma peau et bonjour à mon futur mélanome.

Mon compagnon m'a fait une grosse surprise! Il m'a offert une base de chapeau en paille (voici le liens: https://neheleniapatterns.com/product/strohschute-1840-1860/?lang=en ), l'idée étant que ça serait plus facile et plus rapide pour moi de customiser un chapeau plutôt que d'en créer un de toute pièce!

Je me suis donc lancée dans ma première customisation concernant ce genre de pièce!

J'ai choisi une couleur d'été pour la déco de ce bonnet, une couleur très utilisée à l'époque pour les vêtements d'été: la couleur blanche!!!

J'ai utilisé un ruban et des coupes de dentelles qui trainaient dans mon stock. J'ai passé des années à me demander pourquoi je les gardais et là tout s'est avérés plus qu'utile!

Today is Sunday and as often on Sunday let's have a look on my latest works!

This weekend is the last time I can work on my second empire outfit, I hope next week at the same time I would try to get back to me with lot of coffee.

As the title of the article says, we will talk hat! Bonnet more precisely!

Basically I wanted to do it myself, but to be frank, I did not feel it too much!

I never made a hat of my life, I spoke to my man, we asked ourselves the question of the usefulness of the thing and remembering my last sunburn when we went to the sun And I was not wearing a hat, we agreed that I needed one. Without it I can bid farewell to my skin and say hello to my future melanoma.

My companion made me a big surprise! He offered me a straw hat base (here are the links: https://neheleniapatterns.com/product/strohschute-1840-1860/?lang=en), the idea being that it would be easier and faster for me to customize a hat rather than create one!

So I started in my first customization of hat!

I chose a summer color for the decoration of this bonnet, a color very used at the time for summer clothes: white color!

I used a ribbon and lace cuts that were dragging in my stock. I spent years asking myself why I kept them and had the proof that they were more than useful!

De l'autre côté la dentelle est juste au bord et ce qui dépasse c'est ce que j'ai en trop!!!

Ce bout de dentelle qui trainait dans une boite depuis au moins 10 ans avait pour destin de finir sur ce chapeau!

Yes!

On the other side the lace is right at the edge of the bonnet and what we see is the too-much-lace I have!!!

This lace cut who was "living" into a box for more than 10 years was having the destiny to be sewn on this hat!

Même chose pour la coupe de dentelle qui orne l'intérieur du bonnet!

C'était tout pile!

La partie couverte de dentelle s'arrête là où mes cheveux touchent l'intérieur.

Le volant sur l'arrière et le recouvrement intérieur sont fait avec un vieux bout de coton (lavé, blanchit et repassé juste pour l'occasion); il était trop petit pour servir a quoi que se soit d'autre.

It was all I was needed!

The lace decorated part goes to the place where the bonnet touch my hair.

The fabric used for the back and inside is an old cotton rag (wash, bleached and ironed only for the occasion); too small to be used for anything else.
